Clik here to view.swordandmyheart, I couldn't remember the Highlander fandom having any strong women. It had been years since I'd seen the show, and the only characters I could remember were Duncan and Joe. So, I kind of wanted to show and explore a woman's perspective. I love history and getting into the nuts and bolts of events (even though I haven't exactly taken the time to do this). I also wanted to make Quinn "real" with real problems and issues.
Then when I started writing a massive fic for Image may be NSFW.

Clik here to view.jurisimmortalis) showed up. With her, I could work more on a modern Immortal. How does she wrap her brain around the prospect of living for centuries? Of course, that begged the question: who'd be her Teacher? I pretty much had the solution staring me in the face: Quinn.
What I'd really like to get out of their interaction is to show the Student/Teacher dynamic. Individually speaking, I also write them for the RP. I really do learn a lot more about my characters through their interactions with others. There are situations for them to navigate, people for them to talk to, things for them to do.
I have no illusions of ever getting my brainkids published. But, if the Highlander series ever came back (hey, there's a new movie in the works, it could happen) and they wanted OCs, I'd definitely toss Quinn & Nat in the ring.
